PLI Proudly Supports 2014 Air Force Charity Ball
Phoenix Logistics Inc. was a proud Bronze-Level Sponsor of the 2014 Air Force Charity Ball benefiting the Air Force Aid Society. The annual ball held in Springfield, Virginia, raised more than $600,000 through silent auction, corporate, and personal donations this year. Each year proceeds from the ball provide critical assistance to Airmen and their families who are in need.
Al Funderburk, Chris Collins, and Bob Dulong attended as representatives for PLI. As veterans, their attendance was an intensely personal mission of support for their fellow service men and women. Each of them, as well as the over 800 attendees, were deeply moved by the evening’s speakers. Master Sergeant Jennifer Wheeler generously shared her personal experience of being severely injured in a roadside bombing that resulted in a paraplegic state. She illustrated how the Air Force Aid Society came to her and her family’s assistance by providing invaluable help and support to her and her family from the beginning of her initial treatment through rehabilitation. Not a dry eye remained in the house. She really brought home the sacrifices that our young sons, daughters, and loved ones make for this country.
The money raised that evening will continue to fund important programs that provide emergency aid, educational assistance, and other services to those who have sacrificed so much.
Chris Collins stated, “For all of us involved in the Defense industry, these events again underscore the true meaning and importance of our work. Everything we do — all decisions and actions large and small — contribute to successful missions, furthering the goals of our Nation and potentially saving lives.”
